What is ETPS (SM) Acupressure and/or electrical Acupressure Therapy?

What is ETPS NMA? What is Stim Pro 900? ETPS is a unique hybrid therapy combining the best of osteopathy, acupuncture, trigger point therapy (IMS), and myofascial release. ETPS applies non-invasive, concentrated micro-stimulation in stages isolating nerve impingement sites by a Trained Licensed Massage Therapist specifically trained in this technique that was approved by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy and the National NCBTMB. As massage therapists we do not diagnose. We simply apply bodywork techniques on your soft tissues of your body.

    How does TENS Pro work?
ETPS (sm) has been a remarkable success in the fight against chronic pain. The results are so impressive using this approach, that complete or substantial relief from pain may often occur in the first or second treatment and is based on your particular intake and issues on a case by case basis.

Set a Deep tissue massage session and this treatment is included.

Traditional acutherapy and trigger point needling have been scientifically proven to release natural pain relievers. The TENS Pro has been designed to evoke the very same beneficial response, "tapping" into our body's own internal pain relieving system.
The TENS Pro also has a feature, which allows the user to either increase or decrease circulation to the area of injury through a polarity reversal. Decreasing circulation settings similar to ice therapy, and is most beneficial for pain control and reduction of swelling. Increasing circulation setting is similar to heat therapy and is most beneficial for immune enhancement and neural regeneration. Helping to reduce or increase the blood flow to the area greatly contributes to the natural healing process.

    What is a Migraine?

Massage is excellent for tension and migraine headaches, without some of the annoying side effects of other treatments. Pain melts away, replaced by a feeling of relaxed calm, without the use of drugs or stimulants. It's the natural relief for unnatural pain!

Over 28 million Americans, 75 percent of whom are women, suffer through migraine headaches. It has been determined that 1 in 4 households in the United States have someone who is a migraine sufferer, yet it is not considered by many employers and insurance companies to be a legitimate medical problem.

Migraine headache episodes are usually divided into four components: prodrome, aura, headache, and postdrome. During the prodromal stage, the sufferer may experience mood changes, stiff neck, food cravings, and excessive tiredness. The onset can be from hours to a couple of days before the actual migraine begins. Next is aura, which is thought to be related to a spreading decrease in neuronal activity with a decrease in blood flow across the cerebral hemisphere. These usually last for a couple of hours before the onset of the actual headache itself.

Next is the familiar headache, which can either be unilateral and throbbing, but may become bilateral and generalized. Nausea and vomiting are common, as well as extreme sensitivity to light. Some people are bothered by smells and sound, as well. The headache itself can last anywhere from 4 to 72 hours, although it has been known to continue for a longer period of time. After the headache, during the postdrome phase, most sufferers complain of lowered mood and intellect, irritability, and impaired concentration, accompanied by extreme feelings of exhaustion.

While it was thought that migraine was caused by restricted blood flow to the brain, new research has found a genetic link between familial migraine sufferers. While there are medications that can be used to help control migraine, there are some lifestyle changes that could be beneficial, as well.

How often should I come in?

It depends on your particular condition. Many people come in once a week while others comes in every two weeks or monthly. It really depends on what issue or issues you are trying to correct. Also, you may get the best results if you come in more regularly at first (weekly) and then decrease after a few weeks (monthly) to maintain the improvements you have obtained. For some that have no major problems but just want stress relief or relaxation, it is probably more of a relaxing decision than a health issue. The great thing is you get to decide.

    What is Deep Tissue?

Deep Tissue releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the grain of muscles, tendons and fascia. It is called deep tissue because it also focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

    What is Sciatica?

"Sciatica is a common condition caused by irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve, which runs from the base of the spine and serves the buttocks, rear of the legs and the feet.

Symptoms of sciatica are variable. The sciatica pain can be constant or intermittent, sudden or progressive. Sciatica pain is usually felt radiating down the back of the thigh, and may be in one or both legs. The pain may be felt as stabbing, sharp, burning or "electrical" in nature. The sharp, stabbing type of sciatica pain tends to start suddenly, peaks and then gradually fades. The burning sensation may be felt in the lower back, buttock, legs and/or feet. The electrical pain often focuses at the specific point where the sciatic nerve has been pinched, sometimes then continuing along the sciatic nerve's path. This electrical pain may commence suddenly and recur in cycles. Tingling and numbness are further signs of nerve irritation.

Because lower back muscles may be overworked in sciatica, there is often muscular aching associated with the condition. Sciatica pain may be worsened by coughing, sneezing or bending forward." from Nutri-Pharm © Copyright Nutri-Pharm (Aust) Pty Ltd ABN 37 091 353 794.

Why Does Massage Make People Feel So Wonderful?

Therapeutic massage causes the body to release endorphins; the "feel good" chemicals released when you exercise or laugh. Endorphins make you feel relaxed, happy and stress-free after a good massage.

What is ACU-NU KINESIOLOGY, Shiatsu, and Energy work?

Shiatsu is used as a therapeutic modality for pain control and stress management. The concept of Six Channels for Pain Management is utilized to give the therapist a valuable tool for treating any pain management situation.

If you are interested in "Energy Work," a Shiatsu session will provide you with a greater understanding of the practical aspects of balancing energetic disturbances. As Massage therapists, we do not diagnose. We work on the soft tissues of the body and apply pressure or acupressure in certain points.

Our form of Shiatsu uses the underlying theories of Asian Philosophy. Yin/Yang, The Five Phases, Qi and the Vital substances are utilized, laying the groundwork for helping you with your problem. Particular attention will be paid to experiencing the body's "Qi Flow". A total of 31 treatment recipes can be used covering many aspects of pain and stress management as well as energetic disturbances based on what you tell us in your intake session.

    ***************

"Magnetic energy is a structuring force of the universe. As such, it is a reflection of the order that causes the infinite stars and planets throughout the galaxies to revolve and spin at incredible velocities while remaining in their respective orbits. As one of the four fundamental forces of nature along with gravity, nuclear energy and radioactivity, electromagnetism is equivalent in definition to the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) concept of ‘Qi’, or the East Indian Ayurvedic definition of ‘Prana’. These concepts are what many in the West, regard as the ‘life force’."
